Our Whitetail Hill Deer Pears™ are our favorite fruit tree for deer. They're a highly adaptable pear that's extremely easy to grow, heavy bearing, and absolutely irresistible to deer. Whitetail Hill Deer Pears™ are descendants of wild pears like the ones you often find growing on old homesteads throughout the country. The fact that they are able to do well in these conditions are a testament to their hardiness and survivability. Whitetail Hill Deer Pears™ bear heavy crops of large fruits prized by deer and other wildlife. These trees can survive on their own in the woods for decades with little or no care and still produce heavy crops of pears that become destinations for the local deer herd. You'll often see deer visiting them daily to clean up the latest fallen fruit. Bucks have even been known to protect pear trees while fruit is dropping. Pears really are a favorite for deer and they're about as easy to grow as you can get. They bear young, usually at just 3-6 yrs and grow very fast. Drop time varies slightly from tree to tree but typically falls from Aug-Nov. These are some of the very best pears you'll find for deer and are one of our favorites.

Plant each tree with one of our Survival Kits (a Tree Pro tube and a slow-release fertilizer block), follow our planting instructions, and it’s covered by our 1-Year Survival Guarantee. Full details here.

Add Late Drop and keep chestnuts falling into December.

By November most acorns have been mopped up and the woods go quiet. Late Drop Hybrids are selected to drop Nov–late Dec, right when deer have the fewest options. Our recommendation: a 1:1 mix.

A Tree Pro grow tube and a slow-release fertilizer block for one tree. The tube protects the seedling from deer and rabbits and can double its growth rate; the fertilizer block feeds the tree through its first growing season. Every tree we ship is already inoculated with beneficial mycorrhizae, so there's nothing else to add — plant it in the kit, follow the Growing Guide, and it's covered by our 1-Year Survival Guarantee.

Plant with a Survival Kit and we guarantee the tree for a full year. If a tree dies within one year of the day it's delivered, we'll issue you store credit for what you paid for it. You don't have to worry about spending your money on something that may or may not make it.

To be covered, plant each tree with one of our Survival Kits (a Tree Pro tube and a slow-release fertilizer block), keep the tube on, and follow our planting instructions. Email us photos and your order number within a year of delivery.

The Whitetail Hill difference

5 things we do that other nurseries don't.

We ship when it's time to plant

Not the day you order. Your trees go out in the spring planting window for your region — southern states first, then north as the ground thaws. You get an email with tracking before they leave the farm.

See your ship dates →

Sized to survive the move — on purpose

Everybody wants a bigger tree. We've planted thousands of both, and the smaller one wins. Ours ship at one year old, sized by variety, with a root system built to take off. A tree that size roots in fast and grows. A big tree spends its first two seasons recovering from the move, and often never catches up.

Only trees that earn a spot on hunting land

We're hunters. Every one of our 30+ varieties is picked for what it does for deer: when it drops, how hard it draws, whether it produces every year, and whether it'll grow on the rough ground food plots sit on. If it doesn't help you kill deer, we don't sell it.

We're here after the sale

Planting questions, a tube that blew over, a tree that's slow to leaf out — call or text 256-415-4085, weekdays 9–5, or email contact@whitetailhill.com. A real person answers.

Backed by our 1-Year Survival Guarantee

Plant it with a Survival Kit and follow the Growing Guide, and we guarantee every tree we ship for a full year from delivery. You won't find that from other nurseries.

Customer video review of Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

Great communication, shipping on time, well packaged, good instructions on how to plant, and growing well!

Customer photo review of Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

Starts to leaf out good. I was worried one of them was about 2 weeks behind the others but it is now doing better than the first ones. Something keeps knocking over my cages and protective sleeve but so far it hasn’t affected the trees, I just keep fixing them. Not sure if it’s deer or bear I’ve had both on my cameras.

Coming up on year 3. I’ve had a lot of success with these with zero maintenance.

Customer photo review of Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

All 3 pear trees have come out of dormancy now. One took a month longer than the other two so I was worried it wasn’t gonna happen. Talk to customer support, they are great! They were gonna give me credit for another tree since they were out of stock and I was very appreciative. Went up there today and saw the little green buds starting to form!

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

I planted 6 American chestnut trees and 2 pear trees and as of today all are doing very well. Look forward to seeing them grow and start producing fruit.

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

Showed up a little late for planting in spring so I potted them. They've grown from about 18" to 30" and look very healthy. Will be going to their permanent home in September.

I thought the shipping time was great. The trees came really fresh. Im very happy!! Mark Battista Watertown ny

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

Ordered two of these pear trees. For the price they are extremely small. One tree was dead on arrival, but the company is replacing it come fall. It will be years before I get pears, so I can’t give an honest review.

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

I had ordered the trees last fall and was delivered this spring. It took a few days more for me to get to my property and get planted. Almost three months later I’m impressed how much it has grown. I also used tubes ordered with one trees.

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

Didn't think they would start. Planted 3 days after receiving them. Started buds about 2 weeks. Really happy with the peach trees.

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

My trees arrived healthy and substantial; I'll share more later if they do well!

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

Trees packed well, arrived perfectly, planted soon after receiving, one came out of dormancy, growing well, the other never greened up.

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

First time planting bare root trees. But happy so far all trees are growing.

Whitetail Hill Deer Pear™

Every tree has made it! So far no complaints they greened up and leaved within a week of planting

Little tree work today on our chestnut trees from Whitetail Hill Chestnuts. We have several of these on our property and plan on adding more in September. I can’t wait until they start producing.

Got my “late drop” chestnuts planted, I was very happy with the way they were packaged roots were moist and the quality of the trees was good. Planted among some trees from last year in hopes of creating a stand of chestnuts in the middle of the farm.
