They start to risk coming out during daylight in search of any active food sources they can find.

Many mature bucks have been killed under late dropping fruit and nut trees trying to get those much needed calories late in the year. In fact, at this time of year these trees become even more attractive than normal as fruit and nuts have much higher concentrations of energy rich nutrients like fat, sugars, and other carbs than anything else in the woods.
